Kenneth Dante Murena Will Moderate Panel Discussion on Uniform Voidable Transactions Act

As the Special Projects Director of the American Bankruptcy Institute's Commercial Fraud Committee, Kenneth Dante Murena is producing and moderating a panel discussion on the Uniform Voidable Transactions Act (UVTA) during the Committee's next conference call meeting on November 29th at 4pm.

The UVTA was formerly named the Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act (UFTA), which was amended (and retitled) in 2014 for the first time since its creation in 1984. According to the Uniform Law Commission, the amended Act, which strengthens creditor protections by providing remedies for certain transactions by a debtor that are unfair to the debtor’s creditors, addresses a small number of narrowly-defined issues and is not a comprehensive revision of the Act. The speakers will discuss the amendments, their effects on actions brought under the amended Act in states that have enacted it and the likely effect in other states that are considering enacting it, and the pros and cons of the amendments.
